WORK TOOLS
Here you can see several of the tools Antón used to work.
On the left is his easel, upon which rests an unfinished oil painting of a portrait of one of his friends, Graciela.
Next to that, on the wooden stool decorated by Antón, is his satchel, that contains brushes, tubes of paint and the palette where he mixed colours. To its right, there is a wooden table made by Antón himself, where he would write, draw or read. Arranged on it, you can see a notebook he used for his sketches at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid, as well as some handwritten letters, where he reminisces on his stay in this city. Next to it is a small bronze figure made by the sculptor Juan Cristóbal, Antón’s teacher in Madrid.
The wooden chest on the table was also made by Antón.
On the wall you can see the pencil portraits of three of his four sisters, along with the portrait of a friend of theirs, Rita, the first from the left, followed by Benita, Josefa and Concha.
On the right, you can see the table that Antón used to sculpt, and the tools he used to model and carve are displayed on it.
Also on the table, you see a pencil portrait of his mother and a plaster sculpture of his grandmother, which he later carved in wood and which you can find on display in this room.
Under the table there is a selection of magazines such as “La Esfera”, “Blanco y Negro” and “Fotos”, publications that he kept as a source of inspiration for his work.
