Tadanori Yamaguchi

Japanese artist Tadanori Yamaguchi made these sculptures in 1999.

The piece is a set of five granite cubes that represent the five elements that Tadanori discovered when he arrived in Candás: sea, mountain, rain, wind and tree.

The “Rain”, “Sea” and “Mountain” cubes are designed so that, over time, the humidity will grow moss on them, turning them into living objects.

When the force of the air falls on the groove made in one of its corners, “Wind” makes a sound.

And “Tree” tries to improve the image of the eucalyptus trees, considered a cursed tree that ruins the environment and deplete the resources of the land in which they are found.
