DAMOCLES

José Luis Sánchez

The sculpture “Damocles”, made by José Luis Sánchez in 1990, is a great prism to which different geometric shapes are aligned. The base of the prism is finished off with an enormously sharp triangular structure, resembling a sword and creating a certain sense of danger in the viewer.

Two crossed metal arches serve as an anchor point for the ropes that hold the rolled steel sculpture.

The piece evokes the Greek moral legend about General Damocles.
