With the purpose of not limiting itself to only exhibiting in indoor spaces, the centre decided to prolong the exhibition of Antón’s work to exterior spaces too. With this in mind, and as a result of the close collaboration between the City Council of Carreño and the Ministry of Culture of the Principality of Asturias, this sculptural garden was created in 1989. It starts from the vicinity of the museum and continues along the Cape of San Antonio. A pioneering experience in Asturias.
The collection comprises twenty-four pieces belonging to contemporary sculptors; included among them are several artists who have been awarded grants by the Antón Museum through its scholarship programme to aid sculpture creation and research.
